Plein Air Painting at the Pocket
Hosted by Little River Arts Council (formally the Mentone Area Arts Council)
"The Pocket" on Pigeon Mountain is well-known for its profusion of spring wildflowers. A moderately easy walk up the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail, part of the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Area, leads flower lovers upstream along a creek to a quite scenic waterfall at the end of the trail. A boardwalk area offers many spots to set up and paint, draw, or photograph.
If you simply enjoy painting outdoors or if you are a professional plein air artist, the arts council invites you to bring your paint box, easel, and brown bag lunch and spend the day amongst thousands of wildflowers in bloom. This is a great opportunity for photographers, as well.
