May 30th, 2015 Cheaha State Park joined other States as they dedicated the "Spirit of the CCC" statue, known as the CCC Worker Statue. This Statue dots the American landscape in tribute to the men of the CCC.  The CCC Worker Statue in Cheaha State Park is located by Bunker tower (Alabama's Highest Point)  built by the CCC and dedicated April 4, 1936, named after Colonel Page S. Bunker, director of Alabama State Parks.  This is the only statue in Alabama.

This statue was the dream of a young man and Boy Scout named Grant Atkinson, who began raising money for it as part of an Eagle scout project. Cheaha State Park is the first place in the state of Alabama (only place in Alabama) to have this bronze statue to honor the young men of the CCC.  We hope that it will serve for countless years as a reminder of the hard work and dedication that the young men of the Civilian Conservation Corp gave to help shape this great state and country.  We  hope generations to come will see that having a dream can come true, sometimes it takes many people to join together to accomplish the dream. This statue is possible due to the donations from families and friends of the CCC.  We thank you for helping us honor the CCC.
