You are invited to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act.  September 3, 2014, will mark 50 years since the signing of the Wilderness Act.  This event will take place at Cheaha State Park on September 6, 2014 starting at 10:00 a.m.  The USDA Forest Service is sponsoring the event.   Other participating partners include Wild South, Skip Essman with Leave No Trace of Alabama, Cheaha State Park, Kim Murray of Munford Elementary School, Trail Clubs and the Anniston Outdoor Association who will offer opportunities to learn about the Wilderness Ranger Program, see a cross cut saw demonstration, learn about Leave No Trace, Wildlife and other outdoor opportunities.

Our guest speakers are Gary White (Sipsey), Mike Leonard (Cheaha) and Pete Conroy (Dugger Mountain), who were instrumental with the designation of the Wilderness Areas in Alabama.

With your continued help, our ongoing stewardship work will help preserve this wilderness legacy for future generations.
