Alabama's Talladega National Forest, Cheaha State Park's neighbor, has many interesting and exciting adventures readily accessible from the Park. Many visitors to Cheaha also enjoy hiking to one of several waterfalls near the Park like, High Falls, Devil's Den, and Cheaha Falls. Directions to these sites are available at the Country Store and Hotel Front Desk. Be sure to check with the National Forest to obtain detailed use, rules and regulations information.

Why not pay a visit to the local Museum of Natural History?  Located 25 miles from Cheaha State Park, you can learn about everything from pre-historic dinosaurs to Egyptian mummies and the mummification process.

While you are visiting the Museum of Natural History, why not pop on over to the Berman Museum?  Located just a stone's throw from the Natural History Museum, the Berman Museum houses a wide variety of objects.  You may find anything from American and Nazi spying devices from WWII to authentic suits of armor from the middle ages, even ancient greek bronze statues may be found here.

Have you ever had "Fresh from the Farm" milk?  Wright Dairy Farm offers the opportunity to see a dairy farm in action.  While they no longer offer tours, you still get the chance to see grass-fed cows being milked every day, or get a sneak peak at their small bottling and pasteurizing factory.  Wright Dairy Farm prides themselves on raising grass-fed dairy cows, and they do not use hormones.   As well as selling whole milk, 1% milk, and buttermilk, they also offer authentic Amish farm products ranging from hand-rolled butter to handmade cheeses and candies.  Located 30 miles from Cheaha State Park, Wright Dairy Farms is a real treat for the whole family.  The kids will love the homemade ice cream!

Let's go panning for gold at the Alabama Gold Camp!  Located in Cragford, Al, it's 30 miles from Cheaha State Park.  You can pan for gold for a daily fee, and if you don't have the equipment, you can rent it from them! Alabama Gold Camp Official Website

If you are out making the rounds at the local wineries a good place to visit is Fruithurst Winery.  Located 41 miles from the park, the drive is worth it!

Immerse your family and yourself in the history of the area by visiting Kymulga Grist Mill and Park.  Built over one hundred and forty years ago, the Kymulga Grist Mill and Covered Bridge are the only historical landmarks that still stand in the original place where they were built on Talladega Creek.  Located 39 miles from Cheaha State Park, you can learn about a piece of Alabama history as a family, or all on your own!

Interested in Fine Arts?  Why not travel over to the Isabel A. Comer Museum, where you can see art pieces from native Alabamians?  You can also learn about the Native Sons of Sylacauga, people who range from Jim Nabors to Generals in the military.  They also feature a simulated log cabin home correct to the pioneer era it is modeled from.  Located 45 miles from the park, the museum offers free admission and is definitely worth the drive.

Visit the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, where you can see all the oldies but goodies.   Located 70 miles from the park, it's a bit of drive, but definitely well worth it!

Why not take the kids to a theme-park and waterpark all combined in one?  Alabama Adventure, located in Birmingham, is a fun-filled thrill ride for the whole family.  Featuring everything from a quaint "old time" downtown shopping section and arcade, to the steel rollercoaster, kiddie rides, and authentic, one of a kind water slides, there is something for everyone!

 Or why not make a day visit of Six Flags over Georgia?  Cheaha State Park is located an hour and a half from this massive themepark that the whole family will enjoy!  Spend the day at Six Flags then, come back and relax with us.
