Lake Guntersville Resort State Park is many attractions within one place. Fishing from our 69,000-acre lake, hiking miles of trails, enjoying interpretive programs, relaxing in a lakeside cottage or mountain top chalet, kicking back by the fire in our lakeside campground, taking to the greens on our 18-hole championship golf course, is just a sampling of things to do while visiting this paradise of nature.


 

Those venturing outside of the park during their visit will want to include these attractions in their travel itinerary of things to see and do:

Buck's Pocket State Park is located within 30 minutes of Guntersville by following Alabama Highway 227 South towards Grove Oak. Follow the brown State Park signs to the park. Here one will enjoy hiking trails, majestic views from scenic overlooks into a deep canyon, fly fishing from the banks of Town Creek, and much more.

High Falls Park is located in the NW corner of DeKalb County  in Geraldine and is within 30 minutes of Guntersville State Park. It is easily found by following Alabama Highway 227 South. A green sign marks the entrance to this amazing waterfalls and day use park. Enthusiasts will enjoy whitewater rafting and fly fishing from Town Creek, hiking, and spectacular scenery.

Boaz, named after a biblical character in the book of Ruth, is home to more than 100 Outlet Stores. Boaz is located within 30 minutes of Guntersville Resort State Park.

Cathedral Caverns State Park is one of the finest show caves in the United States. Cathedral Caverns is located within 40 minutes of Guntersville State Park by following AL Hwy. 227 North to Hwy. 431 North. Turn right off of 431 at the brown state park sign in Grant.

Downtown Guntersville offers unique gift shops, history and museums, miles of shoreline along the Tennessee River, and a variety of eateries.

Huntsville Area Attractions are within 1 hour of Guntersville State Park. They include the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Early Works, Sci-Quest, Monte Sano State Park, the Burritt Museum and much more. Follow Alabama Highway 227 North to Highway 431 North into Huntsville.
