Joe Wheeler Provides River Setting for Weddings

This is the first in a series highlighting wedding locations in Alabama State Parks.

Many state parks offer venues for weddings that are attractive in both beauty and price. Joe Wheeler State Park Resort is the perfect setting for a northwest Alabama wedding. It provides great views of the Tennessee River and amenities like golf and catering. Twenty-six guest rooms are under renovation and will be ready by spring. Lodging options in addition to the hotel include cabins and cottages.

The River Room is perfect for a wedding or reception. If it’s a winter wedding, no need to worry about the cold! The rock, wood burning fireplace will warm every bride and groom’s heart and is a photographer’s dream.

In the spring, summer and fall, the patio overlooking the lake and marina is a very popular place for wedding ceremonies and makes for breathtaking photographs for years of memories. If the bride would like to have the wedding and reception inside, the Convention Center, which is approximately 4,800 square feet, is a good choice. It also is equipped with a portable dance floor and pull-down screen. The Convention Center can accommodate up to 300 for a reception or can be divided to provide the wedding on one side and reception on the other side for 150-175 people, depending on the setup.

For an unforgettable stress-free wedding, you and your guests will always remember call or email Sales Manager Felicia Turner: 256-247-5461; Felicia.Turner@dcnr.Alabama.gov.
