Discounted Lodging for Hunters
Several Alabama State Parks are offering a “Hunter’s Special” package through February 2013 for hunters using Alabama’s wildlife management areas (WMAs).
The special lodging room rate is $49.95, and is offered at Cheaha (256-488-5115), Lakepoint Resort (334-687-8011), Joe Wheeler (256-247-5461), DeSoto (256-845-5380) and Lake Guntersville (256-571-5440) State Parks. The discounts are for hunters on lodge rooms and cottages, chalets and cabins at the designated parks. Discounted camping for hunters is being offered at Florala (334-858-6425) and Wind Creek (256-329-0845) State Parks. Please contact those parks directly for specific rate information.
This discount is exclusively for hunters and spouses only. Hunters must show their hunting license and WMA permit in order to receive the discount. For more information or reservation assistance, call 1-800-ALA-PARK or visit the www.alapark.com.

Eagle Awareness at Guntersville
Each weekend in January and the first three weekends in February Guntersville State Park is the place to be for Eagle Weekends. You’ll experience exciting interpretive programs, live birds, guided field trips, excellent food, great views, fellowship and more! All programs are free and no registration is required.

Take the Plunge!
Oak Mountain State Park is the venue for the Third Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Polar Plunge and Inaugural Polar Bear Challenge Run. The event will take place on January 26 at the beach area. More information and registration form.
Florala Meeting Room
Florala State Park has a meeting facility, the Rodney J. Evans Memorial Building, which can be set up for classroom style seating or banquets. The building provides a main room with more than 6,200 square feet of space, and a smaller, 400-square-foot room. Gatherings of 20 to 200 people can be accommodated. This facility is perfect for weddings, family or class reunions. A 350-seat amphitheater, with a 20- by 30-foot stage, is also available for rental. Call 334-858-6425 for details.
