Watersports Cable Park Opens at Oak Mountain
Alabama's first and only watersports cable park is located at Oak Mountain State Park and will be open in time for the 4th of July weekend. Whether you're just starting out or a professional wave rider, Flip Side at Oak Mountain has the coaches and the training to takes your skills to the next level. DeSoto State Park
Annual Independence Day Events atop Lookout Mountain
July 4-5
This annual event is fun for both children and adults!  Enjoy good ol’ fashioned fun at DeSoto State Park, participate in the flag making contest, sit back and enjoy DeSoto’s parade and eat homemade ice cream at the ice cream social!  Free to the public and great for all ages!  Call the park office for more details and reservations (256) 997-5025 or click here for a complete list of events during the two day celebration.
 
Frank Jackson State Park
Join us at Frank Jackson State Park for our annual family fun event
July 4
City of Opp and Frank Jackson presents July 4th Celebration from 4 - 9 p.m. at Frank Jackson State Park in Opp, Ala.  Free hotdogs, watermelons, and soda/water will be served beginning at 4 p.m.  Shortly after dark we will have a spectacular fireworks show over the lake.  Call the park office for more details and reservations (334) 493-6988.
 
Lakepoint Resort State Park
Independence Day Celebration/Kids Parade

Saturday at 4 p.m. (Follow the signs to gather around the swimming pool), come celebrate with us a Lakepoint Resort, fun for the whole family! Prizes awarded for most patriotic costume & parade entry. Call the park office for reservations or more details (334) 687-8011.  
 
Lake Guntersville State Park

This event will take place in the campground at the nature center/activity building at 4 p.m. Kids that wish to participate need to be there at 1 p.m. to decorate their bikes.  Call the park office for more details and overnight reservations (256) 571-5440, ext.7406. 
 
Oak Mountain State Park
July 4th Celebration  
July 3
Oak Mountain State Park and the City of Pelham have partnered together to present a fireworks show.  Johnny Rays will be on site serving food, Budweiser will also be onsite serving refreshments. There will be a small demonstration from the Park’s newest concessionaire in the day use lake demonstrating wakeboard riding before the fireworks show.  We will have music before the fireworks show.  Fireworks will start at 9 p.m.

Joe Wheeler State Park
4th Of July Campsite Decoration Contest
July 3-4
Reserve a campsite in advance so you can show your patriotic colors for this 4th of July campsite decoration contest, judged both in daylight and dark. Judging considerations will be patriotic appropriateness, originality and attractiveness. Electric lights are permitted, but not required for entry. Campers need to complete decorations by 6 p.m. on July 3rd and remove them before vacating the campsite. In addition there will be a variety of programs offered over the holiday weekend. Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon

This great triathlon tradition continues, celebrating 28 years in 2014. Join us at this beautiful Alabama State Park venue for one of the longest running triathlons in Alabama. The race honors the life of Buster Britton - one of the Birmingham area's original triathletes that lost his life in a fun run after completing the Hawaii Ironman only a short time earlier. 75th Anniversary
Diamond Treasure Geocaching Challenge  
The Alabama State Parks has designed a geocaching challenge to help celebrate our 75th Anniversary this year. Each cache will provide a clue and after the cachers visit all eight Parks they will combine the clues to determine where the final cache is located.
