Gulf State Park Beach Luau, May 24
Put on your Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts and join us for an authentic beach luau at Gulf State Park!  Beach Luau will be at the Beach Pavilion on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets start at $45.00 and you can purchase them online at Gulf State Park. DeSoto State Park                                                
33rd Annual Mentone Rhododendron Festival, May 16-18
Savor North Alabama's Spring beauty and enjoy arts and crafts, food, live music and more! The Rhododendron Festival begins with a bonfire in the town square on Friday night complete with live entertainment, storytelling, marshmallow roasting and a concession stand with roasted peanuts and hot beverages. Alabama Free Fishing Day at State Parks
Each calendar year, the Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources designates a "Free Fishing Day" for the public to fish recreationally in public waters without a fishing license.  
Saturday, June 7, has been designated as Free Fishing Day.
Some lakes may still require fees and permits, and owner’s permission is required to fish private ponds. The 2014 National Fishing and Boating Week is June 1-8. Click here for more information.

Can you say “I Hiked Them All”? DeSoto State Park challenges you to become a DeSoto State Park Trail Trekker. We have designated 22 miles of Hiking and Biking Trails, all you have to is start! Whether it takes you a week or 75 years, get a trail log, hike them all, and collect your prize, a Trail Trekkers Patch. Good Luck! And Good Hiking!

Oak Mountain State Park
