Christmas Lights on display at Oak Mountain

Oak Mountain State Park will come alive with lights and other decorations from November 26 to December 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Drive along John Findley Drive to see lights and then turn onto Terrace Drive to continue your experience. Oak Mountain’s holiday light display is just in its infancy. If enough visitors respond, plans are to make it bigger and better in future years. Show your support by visiting Oak Mountain this holiday season! A donation of $5 per car is appreciated and will be used to expand decorations in the future.

High-tech Treasure Hunt

Have you tried geocaching, one of the fastest growing outdoor activities? Many Alabama state parks have caches hidden with the permission of the park manager. Caches may be sized “micro” to “large,” and many contain trade items. Anyone with a GPS receiver can look up cache coordinates at www.geocaching.com. Geocaching is something the entire family can take part in and is just another way to enjoy an Alabama State Park! http://www.alapark.com/Geocaching/
