Campfire Talk: Lichens, an Ecosystem Engineer

Lichens are a small organism with a mighty impact. They are the only thing that break down and consume rocks. Lichens are habitat engineers and indicate the health of an ecosystem. Explore the fascinating world of lichens with one of Alabama's best Lichen Experts. Curtis Hansen, Curator of Plants at the John D. Freeman Herbarium at Auburn University has collected, identified, and documented the rich, diverse world of lichens found in Alabama. Join Curtis Hansen to learn more about these fascinating organisms and learn basic lichen identification skills.
