Lakepoint Resort State Park Official Opening Set for Thursday, July 14

The official ribbon cutting ceremony for newly renovated Lakepoint State Park is set for Thursday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at one of the new cottages and includes a tour of the facility. The general public is invited to attend.

The ceremony marks the completion of the first phase of renovations to the park. The project, which began last Fall, is part of Alabama State Parks’ $100 million renovation program. Improvements include construction of 10 new lakeside cottages, renovation of the Lakepoint Marina and Grill, and a newly designed park entrance.

“This brings to fruition the initial or first phase of renovations to Lakepoint Resort State Park,” said State Parks Director Marc Easterwood. “Major renovations will be made in the second phase to the hotel, convention center, swimming pool and campgrounds. These new and updated facilities should have a significant impact on the favorable comments from park visitors and improve the overall quality of their outdoor recreational experience.”

Located on Highway 431, Lakepoint is seven miles north of Eufaula in southeast Alabama. Hinging on the Alabama-Georgia line, this picturesque 1,220 acre park complements the beautiful 45,200 acre Lake Eufaula. The park has a modern campground, vacation cottages, picnic areas, tennis courts, 18-hole golf course and an extensive marina complete with launch facilities, boat slips, bait and tackle and merchandise sales area, along with the newly renovated snack bar with indoor or outdoor dining. Lakepoint Resort is a full service convention complex offering a 101-unit resort inn with swimming pool and restaurant. Six separate meeting/banquet rooms, which accommodate up to 500 people.

Along with Joe Wheeler, Guntersville, Gulf, Desoto and Cheaha State Parks, Lakepoint is one of six “resort” state parks, meaning it contains lodging, convention and meeting facilities, a restaurant and other amenities.

Marina hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday, and 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is closed on Monday. For more information on Lakepoint and other state parks, click here. To make reservations, call 1-800-ALAPARK.
