10 New Cabins Proposed for Joe Wheeler State Park

Conservation Commissioner Barnett Lawley announced today that construction of 10 new vacation cabins proposed for Joe Wheeler State Park is anticipated to begin within the next few months.

To facilitate this proposed construction, a limited amount of trees will be removed to provide for the cabin area access road and the cabin construction sites themselves.

Anyone wishing to ask questions or comment on this project is invited to attend a public meeting to be held at the Joe Wheeler State Park Lodge on September 8, 2005, at 6:30 p.m.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
