The public is invited to attend an open house for the new lakeside cottages at Joe Wheeler Resort State Park near Rogersville, Alabama. This special event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 from 12:30 - 4:00 p.m.
The 10 recently completed cottages offer three different two- and three-bedroom floor plans. All are equipped with televisions with satellite reception, DVD players, fireplaces, central heat and air, and full kitchens. All feature raised decks overlooking Wheeler Lake. Park staff will be available to answer questions and disseminate information about the new cottages and resort amenities.
“We are continuing to see progress in the renovations of our state parks,” said Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner M. Barnett Lawley. “The opening of these new cottages is one of the many projects underway to improve facilities in the parks statewide.”
Alabama State Parks Director Mark Easterwood is excited about the park’s new additions. “These picturesque cottages add to the amenities already in the resort and we expect visitors will really be pleased with these new accommodations,” said Easterwood.
The new cottages will be available for rent beginning Nov. 19 at very reasonable rates, just in time for the holiday season. For reservations and more information, call256-247-5461, 1-800-544-5639, 1-800-ALA-PARK, or visit
