“As chairman, I am pleased to demonstrate the intent of this new Advisory Board to make itself fully accessible to the public,” stated newly appointed Board chairman, Dan Moultrie. “Moving this meeting is the first of many notable improvements that this Board will initiate.”

The Conservation Advisory Board assists and advises on matters relating to the Department. The Board is composed of 10 members appointed by the governor for alternating terms of six years, and three ex-officio members in the persons of the Governor, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, and the Director of the Cooperative Extension System. The Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources serves as the ex-officio secretary of the Board. The meeting will include a public hearing to allow interested members of the public to comment on conservation issues.

Commissioner Lawley urges concerned citizens to attend the May 17 meeting at Lakepoint State Park when the board will discuss items pertaining to Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, State Lands, State Parks, Marine Resources and Marine Police. During the public hearing portion of the meeting, the board will entertain questions and comments from the public.
