Controlled Burn Planned at Paul M. Grist State Park

The Alabama State Parks Division plans a controlled burn of up to 85 acres at Paul M. Grist State Park near Selma, Ala., during January 2011. The burn will be conducted for fuel hazard reduction and wildlife habitat improvement in eight separate burn compartments. Alabama State Parks Division personnel will be assisted by staff and equipment from the Alabama Forestry Commission and the Valley Grand Fire Department.  Every effort will be made to ensure safety and proper smoke management during this burn period.  For more information, contact Don Burdette, State Parks Forester at 334-850-2469.
