Outdoor Alabama Sweepstakes Winners Announced
May 02, 2014
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) announces that winners of its 2014 Outdoor Alabama Sweepstakes have been awarded their prizes. Seven first-place prizes consisting of a Yamaha generator valued at more than $1,200 have been awarded to Clint Bradley of Piedmont, Ala., Bradford Frye of Summerdale, Ala., Matthew Jackson of Madison, Ala., Jack McGuire of Pelham, Ala., Carl Ray of Elberta, Ala., Kathy Shehan of Atmore, Ala., and James Stancil of Phil Campbell, Ala. Two second-place winners were awarded Alabama State Parks gift cards in the amount of $300 each. Chase Myles of Gallant, Ala., and Samuel Wilks of Samson, Ala., were the gift card winners.
The sweepstakes was conducted by ADCNR on its website, www.outdooralabama.com. Each person who purchased a recreational hunting or fishing license online or through a mobile device from August 26, 2013, through Jan. 31, 2014, was entered into the sweepstakes if they opted in, but purchasing a license was not a requirement to enter. The winners were randomly selected by computer from all the entrants.
Conservation Commissioner N. Gunter Guy Jr. created the sweepstakes to bring attention to online availability of hunting and fishing licenses. “Purchasing a hunting or fishing license online or through a mobile phone app has been available for several years, but many people are still not aware of this option. I thought this would be a great way to promote this easy way of purchasing a license. I really appreciate our friends at Yamaha Motor Corporation for providing the generators for the sweepstakes. Yamaha, like the Alabama Department of Conservation, is all about creating exciting, memorable experiences through an outdoor lifestyle. We thank them for their continued support. I also want to thank Alabama State Parks for their contribution of gift cards to the event as well. The sweepstakes would not have been possible without the generosity of these two partners,” Guy said.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
