Prescribed Burn Planned at Paul M. Grist State Park
April 22, 2008
CONTACT: Forrest Bailey
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (ADCNR) State Parks Division, in cooperation with local fire departments and the Alabama Forestry Commission, is planning prescribed burns during the time frame of April 23-25, 2008 at Paul M, Grist State Park located 15 miles north of Selma, Alabama.
The main objectives in this warm season prescribed burn are the elimination of competing vegetation such as sweetgum and youpon holly and the enhancement of wildlife habitat in the predominantly mixed pine/hardwood zones. Every effort will be made to ensure safety and proper smoke management during this period.
