Pike Road Man Wins Outdoor Alabama Canoe
December 03, 2008
Randy Williams of Pike Road, Ala. is the winner of the 2009 Outdoor Alabama Canoe Giveaway. Williams’ name was drawn from approximately 2,000 people who registered for the canoe at the Alabama National Fair in Montgomery. Williams said that he, wife Lisa, and their three children have many opportunities to use the canoe for recreation and fishing since they live near a small lake.
The Pelican canoe was donated by Academy Sports + Outdoors in Auburn specifically for the fair giveaway. “We are extremely grateful to Academy for the canoe,” said Outdoor Alabama Editor Kim Nix. “We wanted to give away something that would help people enjoy the outdoors, and the canoe is a perfect fit.”
Williams also received a one-year subscription to Outdoor Alabama, a natural resources magazine published by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
