Lake Martin Volunteer Clean-Up Day Cancelled
May 06, 2011
The Lake Martin Volunteer Clean-Up Day scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2011 has been cancelled due to safety concerns over the size and amount of debris in the water. Boaters are advised to continue using caution when boating on the lake.
The Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA), Alabama Power, federal, state and local officials have been meeting to coordinate and facilitate efforts to remove debris from the lakes. “We are asking our homeowners and local boaters to have patience while we go through the process,” said Charles Borden, LMRA spokesmen. “Everyone is working together to get the clean up accomplished as quickly as possible.”
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
