Lake Guntersville Lodge and Restaurant to Re-open Saturday, May 21
May 19, 2011
Alabama State Parks announces that power has been restored to parts of Lake Guntersville State Park and the lodge and restaurant will open at noon on Saturday, May 21. Also opening will be 15 chalets as well as the Town Creek store and boat launch. Storm damage closed the park three weeks ago and crews have been hard at work to get the park re-opened as quickly as possible.
Phone and Internet service have not yet been restored but temporary phone numbers are in place for those needing information or to check on reservations. Those numbers are: 256-486-7064 or 256-486-5237 for the front desk and 256-738-0621 for the lodge sales office.
Still closed are the golf course, campground and hiking trails. Park officials are hopeful that the golf course will be open by Memorial Day.
Multiple logging crews are in the park working to salvage as much timber as possible. Debris removal services are being acquired as well.
Updates on the status of Lake Guntersville State Park facilities can be found at www.alapark.com.
