Cheaha is an amazingly unique place! There is history, natural wonder, scenic beauty, and stories all over Cheaha Mountian. Use the clues to see if you can find all of the locations in the Photo Scavenger Hunt.

Leave No Trace Hike to the Top of Alabama

Learn about Leave No Trace as you Hike to the tip-top of Alabama. We will be hiking from the Cheaha Park Hotel to Bunker Observation Tower, which is Alabama's highest point (1mile easy hike). This interpretative hike will be led by Mandy Pearson, Cheaha State Park Naturalist. She will teach about plants, animals, Native Americans, the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), ecosystems, Leave No Trace, and much more. The program is free with gate admission and to overnight guests.

Framing in a New Story: Photography Composition

Have you watched in awe and wonder as a photographer captures a breathtaking moment with the quick snap of a shutter? Composition is the subject matter in a photograph. Join Photographer Trey Walker as he teaches about the elements of composition. He will also give you new skills for framing in a different style of photography.  The class is limited to 25 participants. Eco-Explorers Nature Journaling

Nature journals have been used for many years!Explorers crossing this land first documented plant, animals, mountains, and rushing rivers in nature journals. Many adventures have been preserved in these precious journals, but a nature journal is so much more. As you look closer to nature, the plant, the animals, a soft blowing wing a babbling brook, warm sunshine, and the glisten of the evening stars, you begin to see the world in a and special way. Slow down and soak in the spectacular treasures and beauty of the natural world all around us. We will develop descriptive techniques, poetry, watercolors, sketching, and nature observations. The class is limited to 10 spaces.
