Old Glory Retirement Vault Ceremony

The Billy Glenn Rushing Post 90 of the American Legion in Atmore, Alabama, in partnership with Cheaha State Park, is proud to introduce the Old Glory Overlook, a final resting place for retired American flags no longer fit for service. This newly constructed steel vault, encased in native Cheaha quartzite, is located on the eastern slope of one of Cheaha’s breathtaking ridges near the Bald Rock Boardwalk. On December 7, 2021, the internment of the vault’s first ashes will mark the beginning of a long legacy of honor and patriotism for Old Glory!
