Eagle Awareness Weekends at Lake Guntersville State Park
Beginning the 1st Weekend in January 2013 through the 3rd weekend in February

Eagle Awareness is a long-standing tradition at Lake Guntersville State Park with more than twenty years of offering exciting programs and guided field trips. The program was started not only as an activity that people of all ages can enjoy, but also as a way to educate the public to the importance of protecting our most valuable treasure, the Bald Eagle and our wildlife, and their habitat and natural environment.

Our Park Naturalist and a host of field trip guides and guest speakers make these weekends an event you won't soon forget. Programs are free each weekend and include:

January 4 - 6  Eagle Awareness Weekends Informative speakers with live birds, guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, great food, excellent scenery and much more, make these weekends tons of fun. Guest speakers this weekend include Becky Collier, Coosa River Science Center, Alabama 4H and Ken Thomas, Superintendent, Desoto State Park.  The event kicks off at the Lodge at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. Be sure to inquire about our special package deals! Don't forget your camera! 

January 11 - 13  Eagle Awareness Weekends Informative speakers with live birds, guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, great food, excellent scenery and much more, make these weekends tons of fun. Guest speakers this Saturday include Montgomery Zoo and Stacey Truitt, Nature’s Echo. The event kicks off at the Lodge at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. January 18 - 20  Eagle Awareness Weekends Informative speakers with live birds, guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, great food, excellent scenery and much more, make these weekends tons of fun. Guest speakers this weekend include David Haggard, West Tennessee Interpretive Specialist, TN State Park and Mark Jackson, Superintendent, Lakepoint State Park . The event kicks off at the Lodge at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. January 25 - 27  Eagle Awareness Weekends Eagle weekends continue to provide ample fun and entertainment and we are not letting up. Special guest speakers this weekend include Sandra Allinson, Alabama Wildlife Center and Curt Cearly, Master Falconer. Enjoy guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, lofty views, fine dining in our Pinecrest Dining room and much, much more. Be sure to bring your camera! The event kicks off at the Lake Guntersville Resort State Park Lodge.

February 1 -  3  Eagle Awareness Weekends This program has been so well received that we added 2 more weeks! Informative speakers with live birds, guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, excellent scenery, fine dining in our Pinecrest Restaurant, and much more, make these weekends tons of fun. Guest speakers this weekend include Dave Holloway, Senior Naturalist, Camp McDowell Environmental Center, and Keith Hudson, Wildlife Biologist for the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources. The event kicks off at the Lodge at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. Be sure to inquire about our special accommodation packages! Don't forget your camera! 

February 8 - 10  Eagle Awareness Weekends Informative speakers with live birds, guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, excellent scenery, fine dining in our Pinecrest Restaurant, and much more, make these weekends tons of fun. Guest speakers this weekend include SOAR, Save Our American Raptors, John & Dale Stokes and Encore presentation from SOAR. This is a power-packed weekend and you won't want to miss it! Don't forget your camera!! Event kicks off at Guntersville State Park Lodge.

February 15 - 17  Eagle Awareness Weekends Informative speakers, guided field trips to Eagle nesting sites, excellent scenery, fine dining in our Pinecrest Restaurant, and much more, make these weekends tons of fun. Guest speakers this weekend include Paul Franklin, Wildlife Photographer and Elmo Belcher & Rocky Baker, Wildlife Photographers*.  This is a power-packed weekend and you won't want to miss it! Don't forget your camera!! Event kicks off at Guntersville State Park Lodge. (*There are no live birds this weekend.)
