CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED

Lake Guntersville State Park was once called home by many different families that farmed and cherished this land, now all that is left of this past are some old homestead frames and their cemetery. Join the Park Naturalist as we hike up to the cemetery and learn all about the land and families that lived here before it became a state park in the 1940’s. With some marked and unmarked graves, this is a chance to look back at history and what the park looked like prior to the TVA lake!

This is a 2-mile loop hike that is considered moderate. There is an area of steep terrain, so good footwear is necessary! Dogs are welcome, must be on a leash.

Location: Meet at parking lot located at the park entrance

Date: June 30th, 2023

Time: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
