Gulf State Park is excited to partner with regional organizations for Shark Week. Each day, Marine Resources Division of AL DCNR will have a touch tank filled with various ray species native to the Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, researchers from the Mississippi State University Marine Fisheries Ecology will be visiting hosting a variety of  AMAZING programs.

 

Shark Research:  During each of these sessions, you will see what it’s like to workoffshore on our scientific “bottom longline” survey! We will also share some ofour interesting research methods and results related to shark movement andmigration as well as shark age and growth. Finally, we will round out thesession with a special feature on deep water sharks.

 

If this session captures your interest, at 11 AM, we will have a special Shark/Ray Dissection for an up-close perspective on shark and ray anatomy and physiology!

 

Sessions begin at 10 AM, and repeat at 11AM, Noon, & 1 PM

 

The admission fee for Shark Week is $3 per person. This purchase will also allow patrons to sightsee along the Pier.

There is a parking fee at any of our beach access.
