Year of Alabama Birding

Dust off your binoculars, because the Alabama Tourism Department has announced that 2023 is the Year of Alabama Birding.

Alabama is a critical habitat for hundreds of bird species, from Whooping Cranes, one of America's most endangered species, to Bald Eagles now flourishing near Alabama waterways. From birds that live here year-round to those that migrate through the area seasonally, there is an exciting array of opportunities to explore birds in Alabama's 21 State Parks.

Learn more about the Alabama State Parks and other year-round public bird watching locations by visiting the Alabama Birding Trails.

Did you know that each of the 21 Alabama State Parks are stops on the Alabama Birding Trail?

Book an overnight accommodation, eat in our restaurants, have fun bird watching, and never leave the park.
