Plein Air Painting at DeSoto Falls
Hosted by Little River Arts Council (formally Mentone Area Arts Council)
On Saturday, September 29, Little River Arts Council (LRAC) will host a “paint out” for plein air enthusiasts. Local plein air artist and LRAC board member Barbara Umland will greet artists at the beautiful DeSoto Falls, where the day will be spent painting outdoors, facing the challenge of capturing the light, colors, and motion unique to outdoor scenes.
Painting will begin between 9–9:30 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Feel free to visit the artists at the Falls while they paint and have a look at their progress.
At 4:30 p.m., a reception for the artists will be held at the Mentone Inn Pavilion. The public is invited to meet the artists and view their artwork of the day.
If you would like to participate as an artist:
There is no fee for this event. You must supply your own easel and supplies. Clean water for brushes will be refreshed during the day. We suggest you pack a lunch to bring with you; snacks and water will be provided. Please contact Barbara Umland for questions and registration at 256-619-1004.
