Women’s Guided Backpacking Trip for Beginners
In DeSoto State Park-Fort Payne, Alabama
Have you ever wanted to get into backpacking, but you were not sure where to start? If so, this trip has everything you need to get started-learn all you need to know so that you can head out on your own outdoor adventure! A fall backpacking class just for women, and a great class for beginners/intermediate.
This class will center around teaching participants the basic skills need to backpack. This includes pitching and striking camp, fire craft, water processing, proper camping etiquettes, food & bear safety, and map reading basics. There are different sleeping options to try: tent, hammock, or shelter. Instructor will also demonstrate making your own backpacking food and cooking on the camp fire.
Hiking is moderate, about a mile one-way to backpacking campsite. Sign up for this fun trip soon!
Date: November 10-11, 2018 (1-night trip)
Time: check in 9 AM on 10th; check out the morning of October 11th
Where: DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama. Meet at DeSoto’s Nature Center, next to the Country Store on County Road 89.
Cost: $75.00 per person– includes all equipment. Participants will need to provide your food. Discounts if you have your own backpacking equipment.
