The WHOLE BACKSTAGE THEATRE is proud to announce its summer musical, Annie Warbucks July 10th-19th at the Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville, Alabama. The world's favorite orphan returns in the long-awaited sequel to the international smash hit, Annie so successful are here once again, with an old-fashioned romance thrown in for good measure!
Picking up right where our record-breaking holiday production of Annie left off, Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks, a hard-nosed billionaire with a heart of gold, receives the troubling news that law requires he marry within sixty days, or his newly adopted daughter Annie will be returned to the orphanage. It's then a race against time as Warbucks and his staff feverishly search for a bride, all while a stubborn Child Welfare Commissioner has her hand on the dial.

Sequoyah is celebrated as a Native American genius who, solely from the resources of his mind, endowed a whole tribe with learning; the only man in history to conceive and perfect in its entirety a syllabary. Sequoyah was known to have taught in the DeKalb County area for years after his mother took up residence in Willstown, Alabama during the movement of the Cherokee Nation to Oklahoma.

Camp Shakespeare at The Whole Backstage Theatre
|
The Whole Backstage Children's Theatre is VERY HAPPY to announce Camp Shakespeare 2009! This summer camp will center around Good Ole Bill himself and give children the opportunity to experience theatre on a new level. The week will have a Shakespearian Theme, where children will learn about William Shakespeare-- who he was and his influence on what we know today as theatre. All classes -costumes, set design, acting, etc. will center around what Shakespeare might have intended for his own shows.
Registration is open now! Class sizes are limited.
There is NO registration fee. Price for the weeklong camp is $130 per child with family discounts being offered. The cost of camp includes a camp t-shirt and snack each day.
If you have ever considered enrolling your child in theatre classes, but were unsure because of the 10 week commitment, this is the perfect opportunity to try it out!
Camp will be from 9AM-12 Noon each day with a snack break included.

Have you been telling your parents that you want a pet and they say no, because you will need to feed it, water it, and play with it. Tell them you have found the perfect pet. A pet rock! They don't need any food or water.
Come learn about the geology of Alabama and create a new pet at the same time. Alabama has some of the oldest & neatest rocks.

Guided Archaeology Tour of Cherokee and Dekalb Counties
Come along with JSU archaeologist Dr. Harry Holstein for a guided tour of sites throughout Cherokee and Dekalb counties. Participants will visit the 19th century Cornwall Iron Furnace, a Spanish contact site at Coosa village, a rock shelter in use as early as 3000 B.C., and much more. This will be an unforgettable all-day event. Bring your own food and drinks. Transportation is provided. Space is limited so register early!

The Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show
|
Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida.
Price: Gate admission is free. Bleacher seating is available for $5 per person. Because of pre-sold reserved seating for large groups, bleacher seats are usually sold out before noon on Friday and before 11 am on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time.
The Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 14 & 15, on board Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. Admission is FREE and the gates open at 8 am each day. The show includes static displays of aircraft of all types, food, beverage and vendor booths, virtual reality experiences and other attractions, including a Kids' Zone, Sony Playstation II gaming area and bungee jumping. Home Depot will also have a Kids Workshop Area with craft projects. The air show begins at 9:45 am, with the Blue Angels slated to fly around 2 pm. The pilots will sign autographs after the show. There is also a night air show on Friday evening. Visit the Homecoming Air Show website at here for information on the acts, static displays and more. Visit the Museum's display area at the air show and climb into our Blue Angel F/A-18 Hornet. Check out other historic aircraft from the Museum's collection including a F-14 Tomcat, a F-4 Phantom and a HU-16 Albatross. Don't miss our special guest appearance of a P-38 Lightning. Visitors are encouraged to use the back gate off of Blue Angel Parkway to enter the base. Patrons may bring chairs, but no coolers, backpacks, food, drinks or pets will be allowed. A handicap area is set aside for wheelchairs only. For those who have never attended an air show, be advised that the aircraft can be VERY noisy and young children need protection for their ears. It can also be windy on the tarmac and layers of clothes are recommended. |
