Cherokee Ways of Knowing Ancestral Walk

First People’s Principles of Learning

Join DeSoto State Park Assistant Naturalist, Mirandi Watson, on her monthly excursions to learn about the Cherokee people and their cultural tie to the environment.  Each monthly excursion will feature a unique topic and a walk in the woods with stops along the way to learn more about the Cherokee Ways of Knowing.

About the hike: We will walk a small portion of the Red Trail to see a shelter that was used by Native Americans.  Although the hike is considered moderate (because of the uneven, rocky terrain), we will be taking a slow walk through the woods.  Please bring a hiking stick for stability if you wish. This program is perfect for beginners or those just wanting a leisurely stroll through the woods.
