Joe Wheeler State Park, located on Wheeler Lake, offers something for everyone; a resort lodge, a restaurant, cabins, camping, fishing, golf, tennis, swimming, convention/banquet facilities, transient slips and a marina.

Whether you're looking for a place to spend the weekend or a place to have the perfect wedding, Joe Wheeler State Park can be your dream destination.  From small church groups to large conventions, our experienced staff can make your special occasion organized and stress free.

What do we offer that most hotel/cabins/campgrounds don't? Our cottages are right on the water with a breathtaking view. Wheeler’s cabins sit on a bluff overlooking the mighty Tennessee River, which is a mile and a half wide. Our hotel rooms are all lakeside with a direct water view. Campsites are nestled among towering pines and a great place for your family to enjoy. We have all this plus a setting of wildlife and nature. We try to offer your stay at a reasonable price, so you get good value for your dollar.

Lodging
Joe Wheeler Resort Lodge offers a fantastic view from the picturesque wood and stone lodge. The Lodge is located just off the main Tennessee River within the quiet beauty of First Creek. The land surrounding the creek is all part of the park and offers a  pristeen nature backdrop.

Located in Northwest Alabama, two miles west of Rogersville, off U.S. Highway 72, the park is approximately 50 miles west of Huntsville and 27 miles east of Florence. Interstate 65 and Athens are 22 miles east of the park.

The Alabama State Parks operates and maintains 22 State Parks encompassing approximately 48,000 acres of land and water. These Parks rely on visitor fees and the support of other partners like communities to fund the majority of their operations.
Joe Wheeler State Park would like to thank all of our supporters. Alabama State Parks have endured adverse situations over the past few years and we are proud to have our visitors and supporters that have helped us meet those challenges head on. Without you, we don't prosper!
Alabama State Parks offer ideal places to stay: resorts, hotels, cabins and cottages, camping; and fun places to play: hiking, biking, golf, fishing, paddling, swimming, birding and wildlife viewing or just relaxing. See www.Alapark.com for details on our sister parks in Alabama.
