Lake Lurleen State Park is named after Alabama’s only female governor. Lurleen Wallace, the wife of former Governor George C. Wallace, was a native of Tuscaloosa County. As Governor she was instrumental in funding a major renovation project of Alabama State Parks.
Lake Lurleen State Park is located 9 miles Northwest of the cities of Tuscaloosa and Northport, Alabama and is 14 miles from the campus of the University of Alabama, home of the “Crimson Tide.”

The 1,625-acre park is a scenic lakeside retreat set on the banks of a 250-acre lake. Facilities include a modern campground, activity building, picnic area, play area, pavilions, beach with bathhouse, fishing piers, boat rentals and boat-launch areas.
OFFICE HOURS: 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday (Except Holidays)
ENTRANCE STATION HOURS: 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. (In Season)
Lake Lurleen is in the "OFF SEASON" and operating on the HONOR SYSTEM. Complete instructions for paying day use fees and camping fees is posted on the information board located at the back of the Entrance Building. Please have correct change for all fees as there is no attendant on duty at the entrance.
Boat rentals are closed during this time period. Valid Fishing License is required and cannot be purchased at the park during this time.
DAY USE ENTRANCE FEE:
Adults (12 years - 61 years of age): $3
Children 6 to 11 years of age: $1
Seniors 62 years of age and older: $1
Children under 6 years of age: FREE
PARK CLOSES AT SUNSET TO ALL DAY USE PARK GUESTS
This fee includes park entrance, picnicking, fishing, boat launching, multi-trail use, and swimming.
A State fishing license is required to fish, and is available for purchase at the park.
