Request an Outdoor Mobility Device (OMD)
At Alabama State Parks, we believe the great outdoors should be open and accessible to everyone - that’s why we’re proud to offer Outdoor Mobility Devices (OMDs) at select parks.
Whether you're exploring a quiet forest path, enjoying a scenic trail, or spending time outdoors with friends and family, our OMDs are here to support your mobility needs and help make your experience safe, comfortable, and inclusive for all. The current park-specific OMD offerings and locations are noted below.
Regular OMD offerings are available daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. If you have a request for a sunset viewing outside of those hours, please contact our team at the park-specific contacts noted below. As we expand our inventory of OMDs across the system, we kindly request that guests call to make reservations before visiting the park to ensure the park OMD is available. We want your experience to be an excellent one!
How to Request an OMD
Advance reservations are requested to ensure your OMD of choice is available, fully charged, and ready for your visit. While same-day requests are welcome, please note that devices are limited and may already be in use. Reserving three days in advance of your visit is helpful whenever possible.
What to Expect on the Day of Your OMD Adventure
On the day of your reservation, a park staff member will meet you at a designated location to get you started. They will:
- Review the basic safety information and guide you through the device's use.
- Answer any questions you may have.
- Ask you to sign the required Participant Agreement and General Waiver.
Note: While staff can provide basic guidance, complete OMD training is not offered on-site. To ensure your safety and comfort, viewing the device-specific instructional video before your visit is required.
