First Day Hike: Neverland Trail

New Year's Day-2024- DeSoto State Park

Start the New Year with a first day hike at DeSoto State Park! Join Desoto State Park and JSU Field Schools staff on a fitness hike along several trails in DeSoto State Park. Come on out and burn those calories while enjoying the Great Outdoors!

About the hike: We will hike on the Never-neverland/Vizneyland trails, as well as the Dark Side trail for a longer hike which will be approximately 7 miles round trip, moderate. Trail weaves thru hardwood forest with sandstone outcroppings, streams, wetlands, and an old homeplace along the trail.  Hike is open to ages 10 to adult.

First Day Hikes are staff-led hikes, held annually on New Year’s Day thru-out the Country, and are designed to encourage visitors to enjoy parks year-round and to promote good health and exercise by working off those calories gained during the holidays. Start the New Year off right!
