Fall Color
Fall Color In DeSoto State Park
Alabama is beautiful throughout the year but especially in the fall. As the greens of summer surrender to glittering yellow poplars, scarlet dogwoods, orange maples and golden hickories, Alabama unfolds its patchwork quilt of color.
In North Alabama the highlands transform into a bright sea of yellow poplars, scarlet dogwoods, orange maples, and golden hickories. Autumn-blooming wildflowers carpet the landscape around every corner.
Fall is our busiest time of year, so be sure to make your reservations for our motel rooms, Log or Rustic cabins, Chalets, & Campsites well in advance.

Fall Color Update (11/18/2020)
Past Peak
While the fall foliage is past peak and many trees are bare, there are still some color to be seen in many places along the Lookout Mountain Parkway, heading towards DeSoto Falls/Mentone. Heading past the Country Store on our campground road and on to the CCC Museum has some nice color in spots, as well as some of the gap roads in the area. Some maples are still hanging on, and many oaks are just getting started.
