The latest version of Alapark.com was launched in July and has already been recognized by several website review organizations. As part of the update, park events and specials are emphasized on the homepage and on each park’s page. A Parks Adventure section is now on the homepage to highlight activities available at various parks throughout the state, from fishing to cave tours.The color scheme and style of the site was chosen to align with the Alabama State Parks Division brand, but also to connect with the natural beauty of the parks highlighted throughout the site.
These international competitions honors excellence in web creativity and digital communication. Entries in the competitions come from corporate communication departments, public relations firms, digital shops, advertising agencies and freelancers.
The Alabama State Parks Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources worked with Alabama Interactive, the official digital government solutions provider for the state of Alabama, on a redesign of the website that was unveiled earlier this month.
“We are all proud of the look and functionality of our alapark.com website,” said Alabama State Parks Division Director Greg Lein. “Our staff worked hard with Alabama Interactive to make sure that the site is easy to use and was built with our visitors of all ages and interests in mind. We encourage all of our friends to visit the site and explore everything it has to offer.”
“The website redesign was done in consultation with several State Parks Division staff members, who offered guidance on what we wanted the site to accomplish,” said Kevin Jones, Parks Marketing Specialist. “We are very happy with the new look and, with this competition recognition, we aren’t the only ones who believe it is a first-class site.”
