Pioneer Camp - Chewacla Nature School

Step back in time and experience life on the frontier in our Pioneer Camp Chewacla Nature School lesson! Students will learn about pioneer history and the early pioneers of Alabama while engaging in interactive storytelling and hands-on activities. Young historians will make traditional punched tin lanterns, try candle making, create pioneer peg dolls, design covered wagons, and build old-fashioned button spinners while discovering how pioneer families lived, worked, and interacted with nature. This program will last roughly 2 hours. Bring your lunches and enjoy a picnic next to our playground afterward! $15 participant fee and all adults must pay for themselves on the way in. All adults must be accompanied by a child and adult supervision is required at all times.  

This program will be located at the Nature Center Outdoor Classroom, which is located in the second parking lot loop on the right after you pass the front gate house
