Whether you’re rolling in with an RV or pitching a tent, Buck’s Pocket offers a peaceful, well-equipped place to stay. The campground includes 23 RV campsites—13 with full hookups (water, power, and sewer), including 4 pull-through sites. The remaining 10 sites offer water and power only. Each RV site features a spacious 16' x 60' concrete camper pad, picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill.
For a more rustic experience, 11 primitive campsites are nestled in the quiet interior of the campground—ideal for tent campers and those looking to truly unplug and connect with nature.
Campground amenities include:
- One ADA-accessible campsite (no sewer hookup)
- High-speed Wi-Fi in the main campground area
- Men's and women's bath houses as well as a separate ADA complaint bath house
- Pavilion available for rent—great for group events
- Convenient dump station for RVs
If utilizing the OHV trail as a registered campground guest an additional fee of $5.00 is required.
Check-In Information:
- Check-in begins at 2:00 P.M. at the park office. All guests are required to register before proceeding to their site.
- Early check-in requires prior approval from park staff.
- Late arrivals: Check-in information is located in the decorative wooden cabin by the park office front door.
- Assistance: The campground host at site C-1 is available after office hours until 9:00 P.M.
Additional Reservations Information:
- Reservations: May be made by phone at (256) 622-8400, online, or in person at the park office.
- Payment: Full payment plus taxes required at booking; cash or credit/debit cards accepted (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). Checks not accepted.
- Cancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to arrival for refund eligibility. Cancellations within 72 hours, including due to inclement weather, may not be refunded.
- Age requirement: Minimum 18; a responsible adult must remain on-site for the duration of the reservation.
- Primitive tent sites: One tent per site; one additional tent allowed for minors under 18 ($5.00 per night plus tax).
- Occupancy limits: Maximum eight persons and two vehicles per site. Up to two OHVs per site; additional vehicles may use the OHV parking lot.
- Wi-Fi calling: Recommended, as most cell carriers have limited coverage.
County Road 173, which leads into the campground, features a steep grade. When approaching from Dekalb County, the roadway includes an 'S' curve or switchback.
