CAMPS Trail

A relatively flat loop around the campground with wide and easy turns, almost no roots or rocks, and minimal elevation changes. It is the perfect trail for someone new to mountain biking, or visitors to the park that bring their bike along for casual rides.

Sweet Shrub Trail

The Sweet Shrub Trail follows Moore's Mill Creek upstream. Water fowl such as Great Blue Herons and King fishers can be seen forging and hunting in the shallow waters. The trail begins at the Lower Pavilion, makes a loop and returns to the Lower Pavilion. Some interpretation is provided along this easily hiked stretch of trail.

Lakeside Connector Trail

This is an easy mile long hike or mountain bike ride that wraps around the 26 acre Chewacla Lake. This trail connects you four other popular intermediate trails

Falls View Trail

This trail picks up from the Lakeside Connector Trail and continues to serpentine up the bluff, with runs paralleling the lake, and ends high on the bluffs above the creek. This trail comes with options to connect to the C.C.C. trail or continue with the Creek View Trail.

Creek View Trail

Entrance includes a ramp that leads to a path  which travels over a banked boardwalk around Volkswagen Rock and follows the old vertigo inducing C.C.C. created trail along the creek.  Beautiful vistas of the creek can be seen along with lichen-covered rock walls, to frame the scene and set the mood of serenity. This trail also passes close to the Natural Falls also called the Gin Saw Hole by older Auburn Alumni.

C.C.C. Trail

The trail wraps around the original C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corp) Camp. This were the young men who originally built Chewacla State Park stayed. You will find a few old structures and the original water tower here. It is were the group camp area is and the boy scouts usually stay here. It runs along Town Creek and provides access to For Pete's Sake over the Hank/Graham Bridge.

For Pete's Sake

This trail has many options for rides including Flo-Rida, Armadillo Alley, Groundhogs Day, Old Skool, and Mama's Milkshake. It also runs around the back side of the park along Town Creek and is only accessible over the Hank/Graham Bridge.

Boy Scout Trail

the Boy Scout Trail begins on the west side of the C.C.C. era arched stone bridge and runs into the Sweet Shrub Trail. Notice the fine craftsmanship of C.C.C. era stone features. This short, but interesting trail is easy hiking. Wade in the shallow sandy waters along the trail.

Troop 30 Boy Scout Trail

The trail begins on the north side of the stone bridge on the main drive through the park. This trail follows Moore's Mill Creek to the boundary of the park. Hikers may follow the trail to the park boundary or cross the creek on one of the rock dams and follow the trail back to the road. This trail requires more hiking than the Boy Scout or Sweet Shrub Trails, but it is one of the most pleasant trails in the park. Native Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel are found in abundance along this stretch of Moore's Mill Creek.  Hike this trail in the spring to catch the beautiful blooms at their peak.

Deer Rub Trail

The trail begins at the Upper Pavilion as you hike down to Chewacla Falls and follows Chewacla Creek back to the Walnut Shelter. Another point of entry to the Deer Rub Trail begins on the east side of the overlook and joins the Deer Rub Trail at Chewacla Creek.  Points of interest include the magnificent gneiss boulders that litter the landscape. Some of which have been dated at billions of years old. This trail involves some steep terrain. Boots are recommended but not required.

Mountain Laurel Trail

The trail begins at the Upper Pavilion area, goes down to Chewacla Falls and then follows Chewacla Lake and Moore's Mill Creek upstream. The trail has several connecting trails that lead back up to the Upper Pavilion area.

Dell's Trail

Is a short trail less than one mile that includes some amazing wooden mountain biking features including the Accelerator, the Great Wall of Chewalca, and Loch Ness Cobra. While helmets are suggested on any time you are mountain biking this trail includes expert features that require a helmet.
