Cathedral Caverns Trail Run
Welcome to the Cathedral Caverns 5K & 15K Trail Run! This race is held annually in November and is designed for both new and experienced trail runners. It starts in a beautiful valley with picturesque mountains and fields in the background.
The last 1.2 miles of the race are a 0.6-mile out-and-back segment into the cave, and is wide enough for two-way traffic. Runners will pick up a glow stick at the turnaround point. Decorative lighting will be on at all times. This will truly be a race like no other!

Registration
The 5K race is capped at 300 runners. The 15K is capped at 300 runners. There are no refunds, credits, or transfers to friends or family on entries. We do not mail shirts or medals to participants who are unable to attend the event. Any leftover shirts are donated.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be at RunningLane. RunningLane is located at 2407 Memorial Parkway SW, Huntsville, AL 35801.
Aid Stations
Aid stations will be provided along the course with a variety of refreshments, including water and other beverages, pretzels, and more.
Shirts & Awards
The race shirt will be a tri-blend t-shirt. Age groups will be: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ for the 5K and 15K. Cutoffs
The cutoff for the 5K is 1 hour and 15 minutes or 24:00 minutes per mile pace. The 15K cutoff is 2 hours 30 minutes or 16:40 minutes per mile pace. If you cannot maintain a 16-minute pace, we kindly request that you consider running the 5K. Cave tours start after the race, so we must adhere to these strict cutoffs.
Weather
These are low-traffic trails, so we expect this race to go off rain or shine. We will delay the start as necessary to avoid lightning or severe weather. If severe weather continues to threaten throughout the day, we may be forced to cancel. Average temperatures: High: 67°F, Low: 44°F. The temperature inside the cave is 58°F year-round.
