Run to the Cave Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION
THIS RACE IS SET TO HAPPEN IN 2021. EVENT WILL BE SUBJECT TO WAVE/CHIP STARTS DETERMINED BY LOCAL & STATE MANDATES. WE PLAN TO MAKE RACE TO THE CAVE A FUN & SAFE EVENT WITH PRECAUTIONARY COVID19 PROCEDURES.
RACE TO THE CAVE IS HAPPENING IN 2021!
Creators of Conquer the Cave 5k present to you, the Cave Race Half Marathon! This is all the glory of a road half marathon, with a beautiful cave finish! Join us at the crown jewel of caves, Cathedral Caverns State Park!
The race starts on the roads of a beautiful valley and ends with a 1.2 mile finish through the Cathedral Cavern Cave!
Average Temperatures at this time of year range from 40-63 degrees
SHIRTS & AWARDS
The race shirt will be a tri blend t-shirt shirt. Age groups will be: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ for the half marathon. ALL runners will receive a sweet finisher medal.
PACKET PICKUP
Packet pickup will be on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 @ Fleet Feet Sports Huntsville from 12-5pm. Fleet Feet is located at 2722 Carl T Jones Dr SE B2, Huntsville, AL 35802. Also, there will race day packet pick up at Cathedral Caverns State Park under the tent in the parking area (start line) from 630am-7:45am but we encourage you to get there as early as possible!

There are no refunds, credits or friend/ family transfers on entries. We do not mail shirts or medals to participants unable to make the event as left over shirts are donated.
AID STATIONS
Aid stations will be provided on the course with everything from water, gatorade, coke, pretzels, m&m's, and more.

(Does not include the Cave Portion as GPS doesn't register the Cave) The cave is ~1.2 miles worth of running!
Cutoff Time:
The race cutoff time for the half marathon is 4 hours.
LODGING
The Lake Guntersville State Park Lodge is a magnificent resort with fabulous views. ALL runners will receive deeply discounted (25% off regular pricing) lodging rates of $97.00 for bluff view rooms with two beds and $83.00 for park side rooms with one queen bed. Rates reflect occupancy by up to 2 people, there is a $10 per person charge for each additional person. Check-in begins at 4:00pm and guests may check out any time before 11:00am.
You will need to contact the Guntersville State Park Lodge to make reservations: 256-505-6621. To ensure you get the special discounted rate, please mention you are running Race to the Cave Half Marathon - GROUP CODE 8982. Please note that a deposit is required for each reservation. Deposits are the sum of one night's lodging plus taxes and are due at time reservation is made.
Participants will also receive a 10% discount on any of the weekend buffets for runners and their families. (Important to note, we will have chili and soup post race for the runners).
The Lodge is at Lake Guntersville State Park, approximately 30 minutes away from Cathedral Caverns State Park where the race is held.
