ABOUT THE ALABAMA WILDLIFE CENTER

Our Mission

The Alabama Wildlife Center is Alabama’s oldest and largest wildlife rehabilitation facility, with over 45 years of caring for almost 2,000 wild bird patients from more than 100 species. AWC is a nonprofit organization located inside OMSP with a dual mission:

  • Provide medical and rehabilitative care for Alabama’s injured and orphaned native birds in order to permit their return to the wild.
  • Educate people in order to heighten awareness and appreciation of Alabama’s native wildlife.

The Alabama Wildlife Center is also Alabama's oldest and largest wildlife education center. From its humble beginnings in the back yard of founder Anne Miller to the mountain top refuge it is today, AWC has pioneered lifesaving rehabilitation practices and delivered life changing educational programs.

While you are visiting be sure to visit Shelby the Bald Eagle and the Eurasian Eagle Owl, the world's largest owl species!
