Cheaha State Park was created in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. You might often hear the Civilian Conservation Corps mentioned, but did you realize that it was a group of half-starved young men working to stabilize a poor hungry nation, feed and clothe their families, create many of the nation’s state and federal park and protect the nation from an invasion? Learn more with the Park Naturalist Mandy Pearson about the Civilian Conservation Corps at the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum. The program is free with gate admission and to overnight guests.
