Campfire Talk: Fire Ecology

Fire can be devastating. But did you know that it can also be a lifesaver? The longleaf pine is just one of the many plants that depend on wildfires for their life cycle. There are also animals that depend on regular forest fires. Join Jimmy Stiles of the Auburn School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences to learn more about the longleaf habitat, the unusual animals who call it home, and how a fire develops and moves through an ecosystem.

For more information email Mandy.Pearson@dcnr.alabama.gov or call 256-412-9938. The program is free with gate admission and to overnight guests. We are committed to providing programs that are educational, fun, and safe. Family units will be spaced out from other family units. We will provide hand sanitizer stations.
