Campfire Talk: Glade Plants
Although Cheaha Mountain is a small mountain there is a sea of life covering it. Quartzite is one of the hardest rocks in the area. Cheaha Mountain is made of this tough rock. There are barren areas of bedrock at or near the surface, and where soils are so thin, trees and shrubs find it difficult to grow. It is here in the harsh environment of the glade that you will discover rare and unique plant communities. Eco Explores: Nature Journaling
Nature journals have been used for many years! Explores crossing this land first documented plant, animals, mountains, and rushing rivers in nature journals. Many adventures have been preserved in these precious journals, but a nature journal is so much more. As you look closer to nature, the plant, the animals, a soft blowing wing a babbling brook, warm sunshine, and the glisten of the evening stars, you begin to see the world in a and special way. Slow down and soak in the spectacular treasures and beauty of the natural world all around us. We will develop descriptive techniques, poetry, watercolors, sketching, and nature observations. Campfire Talk: A Step in Time: Storytelling through Quilts
The history of American quilts tells the history of America. Scrapes of fabric were saved and loving stitched together not just for warmth, but to preserve a story. Imagine if these old quilts could talk, what tales they could tell us! We will discuss many types of quilts, what they mean, and how they have changed through time.
