Campfire Talk: Civilian Conservation Corps the Men Who Shaped a Nation

Once upon a time you could roam for days and see nothing man-made. Now it is harder to find natural, scenic, wild areas. We all need a little wild wilderness in our souls. Wilderness is also important for clean air, clean water, plant, animals and much more. Learn about wilderness and how you can help keep it around for generations to come! The Civilian Conservation Corps built the park over 80 years ago. Learn about the men who worked hard to preserve wilderness areas. Nature Nook

Park Naturalist Mandy Pearson will be stationed outside the Mountain Store to answer any questions you might have about animals, plant, history, or point you to a great hiking trail. Take A Hike: Tree Tea Hike

Have you ever wondered where your food and medicine come from? Years ago, most food and medicine grew on plants. Join us for an editable and medicinal plant walk with a tasting of some of the teas from native plants. The program is free with gate admission and to overnight guests. Campfire Talk: Exploring Native American Alabama with Dr. Mairin Odle (University of Alabama)

Historic Native Americans are a brilliant group of people. A diverse group of farmers, hunters, warriors, doctors, foresters, and much more. They knew how to live off the land, but they also know how to take care of the land. They are not much different than you or me. Early Bird: Coffee and Bird Watching with the Naturalist

Join the Park Naturalist to watch and identify birds. She will teach you about birding, and how hone in you bird identifying skills. Bring your own set of binoculars and learn about our feathered friends. You are also welcome to chat and ask the naturalist any question about the animals, plants, or park that you have been curious about.
