Spring Bird Hike w/ Alabama Audubon
Join us for a springtime retreat for a Guided Bird Hike at Cheaha State Park, where nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike can immerse themselves in the beauty of the park's diverse plant and animal life. Co-led by experienced Program Coordinator Andrew Lydeard and one of Cheaha State Park’s naturalists, this program offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich ecosystems that inhabit the park during the vibrant spring season. Participants will embark on a leisurely hike through the park's scenic trails, learning about various bird species, plants and wildlife in the park, and unique ecosystems along the way. We’ll meet at the interpretive center and walk part way up the peak before turning around and then walking around the lake.
During the hike, participants will have the chance to witness a plethora of bird species in their natural habitat, from colorful songbirds to majestic raptors soaring overhead. As we will be in reaching the end of peak songbird migration, late migrants are a great possibility as they make their treks to northern latitudes. Some species include Chestnut-sided and Blackpoll Warblers, Gray-cheeked Thrush, and maybe even a Mourning Warbler while other migratory birds like Wood Thrush and Red-eyed Vireos will have already begun setting up their breeding territories in the park. Join us for an unforgettable journey through the sights and sounds of springtime at Cheaha State Park.
