Survival Skills: Fired Up!
Fire is one of the oldest tools that man has ever used. It has been used to cook, purify water, provide light, provide warmth and much more. This course will cover: various fire-starting methods, building a bow drill kit (you can take home), making fire with your bow drill, and learning bow drill and flint & steel techniques. Eco Explores: Leave No Trace Hike to the Top of Alabama
Learn the Leave No Trace basics as you hike to the top of Alabama. This one-mile hike will begin at the Vista Cliffside overlook and end at the Bunker Observation Tower, Alabama's highest point. The park naturalist will interpret the trail and discuss plants, animals, native Americans, the Civilian Conservation Corp, ecosystems, Leave No Trace, and much more.
