Main Picnic Area

DeSoto State Park's main Picnic Area is comprised of 1 stone CCC Pavilion, 2 small pavilions, volleyball court, small ball field, playground, & outdoor classroom area, with picnic tables & grills located through-out the area. The picnic area is perfect for reunions, socials, company picnics, events, & cook-outs.

Located just across the road from DeSoto's Country Store & Information Center, the picnic area is a short distance away from DeSoto’s trail system, the West Fork of Little River, Indian Falls, the Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail, DeSoto’s Olympic size pool, & the Screaming Eagle Aerial Adventure zipline.

Fees

$2 per vehicle day use fee is collected at collection honor boxes in parking area

Additional Information

An handicapped- accessible picnic table is conveniently located

There is limited electricity located in the picnic area

Restrooms are located in the stone CCC Pavilion

(please note this is limited parking in this area, and there is no parking for larger vehicles such as RVs, trailers, etc)

Our gorgeous rock shelter built by the Civilian Conservation Corps includes two stone fireplaces. Public restrooms and an easily accessible handicap restroom are located on the ends of the shelter. This shelter can hold up to 100 people and has electrical plugs so that you can have power for your event.

Additional information

Picnic area closes at sundown. For big events please email the country store to let us know.

Be sure that while you are there that you look out the back of the shelter so that you may see our trails that lead down to the part of Little River that runs through the park(rated moderate)

DeSoto State Park’s Picnic Area has two smaller shelters, which holds up to 25 people, each has two picnic tables located inside the shelter and one grill.  Playground and volleyball court are located nearby. Trees surround the shelter 2 and create a great place for a picnic or a small family get-together.

Picnic area closes at sundown.

DeSoto State Park’s Picnic Area has two smaller shelters, which holds up to 25 people, each has two picnic tables located inside the shelter and one grill.  Playground and volleyball court are located nearby. Shelter 3 is next to the playground and volleyball court.

Picnic area closes at sundown.

Gazebo on the Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail

Entrance to the Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail is a short walk from the picnic area. Parking is available at the trailhead. Boardwalk is handicapped accessible.
